Transcript of ‘Shekel’ coins issued in the town of Gerlitz Görlitz and throughout Europe from the 16th century made of copper, brass and silver. Germany, 1844-1853.

The initial transcripts were issued in the early 16th century by a priest from the city of Gerlitz in Germany who visited Jerusalem, and decided to commemorate his impressions of the Holy City on coins he made as a souvenir to the shekel since dozens of different transcripts of various metals, different sizes and similar designs were minted throughout Europe.
