Israel – Lot of 9 coins, 200 Lirot 1980 – "Peace" – Silver 900, 26g, 37mm
5740-1980 Shalom "Peace"

Israel’s 32nd Anniversary of Independence Coin

"At the height of the bloody onslaught waged against us for many months", states the Declaration of Independence, May 1948, "we extend the hand of peace and good neighborliness to all the States and people in our area and call upon them to join in co-operative and mutually beneficial relations with the independent Hebrew people in its Land."
After struggling for 30 years and through five wars, the long striving for peace began to take form, when Israel and Egypt agreed to end the state of war between them. On the 27th of Adar 5740 – March 26, 1979 – a peace treaty was signed between Israel and Egypt, the largest and strongest of the Arab states.

Obverse:
Face value "200 Lirot" in Hebrew on the silver coins, "5,000 Lirot" on the gold. Above, "Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty" in Hebrew, Arabic and English and the Israel State emblem. Around the uper border, to the left, "Israel" in Hebrew, Arabic and English and the mint year "5740-1980".

Reverse:
The Hebrew word "Shalom" entwined in an olive branch, together with the Arabic and English translation.
