Israel – Medal Mateh Yehuda Regional Council Medal 1976 – 935 silver, 112 g, 59 mm.
The regional council "Mateh Yehuda", located in the hills of Jerusalem, is part of the area which belonged to the tribe of Judah, hence its name. The council was set up in 1964 and it encompasses 61 settlements.
The obverse depicts a stylized figure of a lion which stands atop a sheaf of wheat and a cogged wheel. The inscriptions read: "Regional council" (top) and "Matei Yehuda" (below center).
The reverse shows a stylized panorama with a mother holding a child in her arms, while the father is doing construction work. On the right is a stylized head of a lion. Above, on the left, the biblical citation reads: "And the cities of Judah shall be built" (Isaiah 44:26).
